Quilon [Kollam] Motocross

India Open - 1st
Indian Experts - 1st
Open Class - ........ 1st

In one word 'domination'. The day was good except the fact that my bike was facing a jetting problem. I ended up getting no start for both Indian experts and Open Class. I was the last one to turn the first corner. But bike was actually better in higher rpm. Better in the sense a lot better and better than any other bike in the track. I opted for normal rear tyre. Because the track had some pretty long straights. The track was flat and had some very good overtaking spots. In Indian Open i spent some time with the carb and bike was much better and i got a hole shot. But in the finals i missed the start. Shabaz khan took the lead but my i was able to catch him with in a lap. Even though i dominated , i think i missed the fun. Its was all my bike and i had only little to do in the track.. just twist the throttle. But i think i missed the fun because it was fairly easy. The event was under FMSCI guidance and was conducted by Quilon Motorspors Club. Hats off to them for conducting the event.

Xtreme Riders Dirt Bike Race -2010 Palakkad

Great race , great track , great audience. Track was super speed track. Gravel terrain, little bit wet when the race started and dried out in the end. 4 classes to ride and 12 riders per start. Great feeling and riders from all over south india.

The track was not technical. There where very less corners and there was nothing challenging except the speed. The track condition changed at the end of the race and bike started loosing rear grip.

After the 3rd race it was like if i win it, i will be the best rider but they did'nt gave me time to settle in the start. They pulled the gate too fast before i expected it. I didn't get start and i started 4th. But it was fun to ride because it was a fast track and since the rear grip was less , it was like riding on ice. I finished 2nd and i was able to finish too close to guy who started first.

Shabaz khan was the best rider and he did a great job. One of his best quality is riding a flawless race even under pressure. He is a gifted rider and good competition.

Mahesh who is riding his second race came 3rd in beginners and 2nd in novice. This is a great achievement because me and him are the only riders from kerala who where in podium.

Results:
Indian Open 2nd
Indian Experts 2nd
Two Stroke Open Class 2nd
Xtreme Open Class 1st

MRF Supercross 2010 - May 30 (published as in TVS website)

Bangalore May 30, 2010: Bangalore provided just the right weather for the opening round of the MRF Supercross Championship, a round of FMSCI National Supercross championship 2010. While Team TVS Racing kick started its celebration of 25 years in style, taking podium position for every race in which they participated, the star performer of the day was undoubtedly C S Santosh who won both Motos of the Class I Foreign Open - Group A 250 cc - 500 cc. He was adjudged 'Best Rider of the Day".

The first moto was a keenly fought battle between C S Santosh, Pradeep H K and Aravind K P until the seventh lap, when Aravind K P's bike stalled and refused to start, throwing him out of the race. This brought Kerala privateer C D Jinan into the fray. A tough battle ensued for second and third place between TVS Racing's Pradeep H K and C D Jinan, C S Santosh having taken a huge lead over them. Santosh went on to win the race by almost three fourths of a lap, followed by Pradeep H K who succeeded in taking second over C D Jinan.

The day's proceedings however, started with the first moto of Class 3 Indian Experts - Group B which was dominated by Team TVS Racing. Aravind K P, who won the race, was cramped in the first corner, allowing TVS Racing's Pramod Joshua to take the lead followed closely by fellow team mate H K Pradeep. Amid fierce competition for first and second place between Pramod Joshua and Pradeep H K, Aravind K P came in from the rear to win the race. It was an all TVS Racing affair with Team TVS Racing finishing first second and third. Aravind K P. Pradeep H K and Pramod Joshua stood first, second and third respectively. The second moto was no different with stiff competition between the top three TVS Racing Riders.

C S Santosh therefore leads the championship with 40 points, followed by C D Jinan and Pradeep H K respectively with 32 points each.

In the Class 2 novice - Group C, it was a keen fight between Mohammed Azgar from Mysore riding an RX 135, Latif Sharif from Bangalore on his RXG and Murthy R from TVS Racing on his Apache RTR 160. A close contest in the second lap saw TVS Racing rider Murthy R move into second place. Despite desperate attempts to wrest first place from Mohammed Azgar, Murthy was able to manage only second with Latif Sharif coming in a distant third.

The locals impressed in a closely run race with almost seven to eight riders crowding corners in a bid to overtake one another. Bashir Ahmed took top honours winning the race, followed by Anil Kumar and Mohammed Azgar.

The second Moto of Class 1 Foreign open Group A was the most exciting race of the day with Aravind K P and C S Santosh fighting tooth and nail for the first position. Fascinating double and triple jump displayed by both riders were cheered by the enthused crowd. Aravind's bad luck continued in the second race as well, when he fell in the second lap, forcing him to fourth position. C S Santosh went on to complete the race with a massive lead over C D Jinan, who took advantage of Aravind K P's absence and finished second. Pradeep H K of TVS Racing came in third

Chavakkad Race (Sand Track)

The track was not that technical. But riding in it was tough. The track has 2 sharp corners ,one zig zag and 3 wide corners. It was a small track , designed in a very less space. I did some practice laps but was not able to get momentum. The bike was not getting enough speed as the back tyre was spinning and getting covered under sand. My first heats didn't went that good. I got the start but i was not able to keep up the speed and the guy behind was closing on me. His ride was an Tvs apache 4 stroke. 4 stroke was performing very good in that track as it produce more torque. I had no other option but to block dinu and ride. There was no doubt that that bike was performing way better than mine and dinu was doing a great job with it. Second heats , i really don't know how dinu came again in the heats with me. He got a good start and i had no other option but to settle for second. All the corners had ruts formed and the only line was to ride through the ruts. I was sure that dinu will take the lead in the finals if i ride with the same setup. I changed my bike setup before finals( don't ask me what i did , its a trade secret). I did a test run and the setup felt good. Finals, i got the start. But i am not sure about the authenticity of my start. I feel i did a jump start. Nobody complained ,but i think i did a 50% jump start. I am a person who insist on having a gate for all the races i ride. But this race there was no gate and things like happen and cannot be controlled if there is no gate. I felt confident and i pushed my bike. The bike was behaving as expected. There was less wheel spin in corners and i was able to shit to higher gears. I finished with a good lead. Dinu place second and afzal was third. Dinu did a fair job in the race. One more guy i noticed is mahesh , a novice rider. It was his first race and he was riding like a pro. I think he does have a good future in this business.

Cheyyaram Race. (Rain messed up the track)

It was a very good track (before rain). Not much wider than the kingfisher track. My practice laps went good. Competition was very good in the first heats. Shabaz khan (kingfisher indian experts winner) a very good rider and competing guy from mysore was in my heats. It was very interesting and i did some interesting overtaking in the heats.I placed 1st in both heats and semi. After the heats the track condition changed because of heavy rain, most of the track was under water and the corners went slippery. Finals started and i was second after the first corner. Jinan got a good start and was in the front. I gave my best in the first two laps to get closer to him but there was only one line available in the track, which was the outer line. No other lines on the track was usable because of the wet condition. After two laps i understood that unless jinan make a mistake i can't get close to him. He was at his best and his experience in riding in wet condition is not questionable. He made no mistakes and after lap 2 i decided to settle for second. I wanted to finish the race rather than making a stupid mistake because the track was not supporting my bike setup. But in the last lap jinan started to show his real culture. He started calling me by hand (his usual gesture when he is sure about his victory) , i too was surprised, since any good rider can understand that overtaking is very dangerous in that track. I believe that he did it because of 3 reasons:
1) Desperation - He was so desperate and he wanted to show others he is good( which i do agree, but he is not the only good rider out there, who is good)
2) Cowardliness - He don't have to face another race soon, until one of his friends arrange a race favoring his bike and style
3) Foolishness - He is not realizing a coin has two faces. Next time i too can show my fingers or a single one.

Gopan an upcoming rider from trishur placed 3rd. Shabaz Kahan went down in the semi finals because of the track conditions.

Now for all the guys who support me and jinan , i don't have any personal problems with him. I do admit that he is ONE OF THE GOOD RIDERS in south india. He is good competition. But what i hate is his attitude in racing. He never supports any upcoming racer. He degrades the confidence and self respect of people who competes against him. He thinks he is unbeatable. I survived all this and now i am here, to prove it wrong....

PS: May-16 Mysore race. I think there will be good competition and i hope to see Mr. Desperate there.

News in The Hindu

Kingfisher Dirt Race 2010

One of the best race in my life and a victory with a vengeance!. It is not good for a rider to complain about the bike when he is beaten. I saw jinan doing it in the indian experts semi final. We exchanged positions 3 times and in the last lap he was hinting to the crowed that this bike is not good. We all know how good that bike performed in the timed event. So its not the bike, its him who has a problem when there is some one to compete against him. Everybody told me i should have pushed hard in the timed event. I was not ready to make a mistake in the time event that will affect my two finals.I wanted him in the track to nail him. And for all those who heard that his piston seized.... it is a lie. The first response from a person when a piston seizes is to apply clutch. But he braked. He applied both his brakes after a corner just to throw me off balance. His dirty trick didn't work out. This time luck was with rider 13.
